Jason York

Jason York is a metalsmith hailing from the cornfields of Iowa. While working towards his BFA from Iowa State University, his love for metals grew largely from the medium’s inherent precision and permanence. After graduating in 2004, he received training as a bench jeweler working for Jim Cotter designing and fabricating jewelry. This led him to earn his Masters degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale where in addition to working on jewelry and small metals, he also began experimenting with ironwork. Completing his MFA in 2010, he became an Artist in Residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft where he spent the next 3 years developing his own portfolio while teaching small metals and blacksmithing courses. After his residency, Jason moved to West Virginia and partnered with Anvil Works LLC working as an artist blacksmith designing and fabricating custom architectural features and other commission pieces for the Washington DC and Baltimore areas. Jason joined Noble Constructors in 2017 and continues to create his own work for exhibitions, commissions and galleries
